About the Teachers

Yana Parra

Yana Parra, born in 1988 in Caracas, began her musical training in Venezuela with “El Sistema” before continuing her studies in Munich at the Richard Strauss Conservatory at the age of 16. She earned a degree in cello pedagogy from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München in 2011. Yana also completed a Bachelor of Arts at the Geneva University of Music, followed by a Master’s in musical interpretation at the Hochschule für Musik Basel.

She has worked with ensembles such as the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Gstaad Festival Orchestra. From 2013 to 2019, she taught in Geneva and Versoix, and obtained an active Orff pedagogy certification in Montreal. From 2019 to 2023, she taught at the Vincent-d’Indy School of Music in Montreal.

Starting in August 2024, she will join the Centre Musical de Cornavin to continue inspiring young musicians.

Fabrice Sottas

Fabrice Sottas began playing the cello at the Geneva Conservatory, then continued his studies at the Glenn Gould Professional School in Toronto, the Richard Strauss Conservatory, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, and the Geneva University of Music. He was awarded the André François Marescotti Foundation prize.

After his studies, he was admitted to the Bavarian Orchestra Academy and played with the orchestra of the National Theater in Darmstadt. He also collaborated with the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra before becoming a cellist with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

Returning to Geneva in 2010, he dedicated himself to chamber music, teaching cello, and collaborating with various orchestras, including the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. He has taught at the International School of Geneva, the Vincent-d’Indy School of Music in Montreal, and the Städtische Sing- und Musikschule in Munich. Back in Geneva in 2024, he continues to teach the cello, tailoring his lessons to the specific needs of his students.

Registration Fees

The registration fee is 50.- per year and per family.

Family Discounts

We are pleased to offer special discounts for families. When multiple members of the same family enroll, you receive a 10% discount for the second child and a 20% discount for the third child.

These discounts also apply if a parent enrolls with one or more children.

Trial Lesson

The CENTRE MUSICAL DE CORNAVIN offers the opportunity to take a trial lesson with no obligation. This lesson also allows the teacher to assess the student’s piano and musical skills in order to propose a suitable study plan. The trial lesson lasts 45 minutes (30 minutes for children).
