Course description

The transverse flute is a member of the woodwind family.
It is also the oldest musical instrument ever found!
The oldest flute dates back 35,000 years!
The first flutes were made from animal bones.
Later, they were made of wood.
Today, they are often made of metals such as silver and gold.
Learning to play the flute is an exciting and accessible adventure, whatever your age or level.

Objectives of flute lessons :

      • Master flute technique in an accessible, progressive way.
      • Understand and use body and muscle mechanisms to play comfortably.
      • Cultivate a deep passion and appreciation for music.
      • Provide tools for research and understanding that can be applied to a variety of fields.
      • Adapt to the needs and ambitions of each student, whatever their age or level.
      • Broaden students’ horizons by stimulating their curiosity and desire for discovery.

About the teacher

Néhémie Manca, born in Geneva, is a flutist and teacher renowned for his pedagogical skills and his ability to clearly explain the technical and musical aspects of the flute.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Haute École de Musique de Genève, and is currently preparing a Master’s degree in orchestration.
Appreciated for his personalized approach, he makes complex flute techniques accessible to his students.
Néhémie has coached flute desks at the Conservatoire de Fribourg and the Harmonie La Sirène in Grand-Saconnex.
He has played with orchestras such as the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie and the Orchestre de la Francophonie.
Winner of the Concours Genevois des Jeunes Musiciens and the Vienne Classique Competition, Néhémie Manca looks forward to welcoming you to the Centre Musical de Cornavin to share his passion for flute and music.
