Yana Parra

Born in Caracas in 1988, Yana Parra began her training at the renowned “El Sistema” in Venezuela. At the age of 16, she joined the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich, and in 2011, she graduated with a specialization in cello pedagogy from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München.Holding a Bachelor of Arts from Haute école de musique de Genève under the tutelage of Daniel Grosgurin, Yana pursued a Master’s in Music Performance at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, studying with Rafael Rosenfeld. She collaborated with prestigious ensembles such as the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Gstaad Festival Orchestra.

Between 2013 and 2019, she taught music initiation in Geneva and Versoix at the Montessori school La Maison Bleue, as well as at the Geneva Conservatory of Music for the MusicEnsemble project. Yana also obtained a certification in Orff active pedagogy from Carl Orff Canada in Montreal, recognized for her exceptional skills.

From 2019 to 2023, she taught music initiation and exploration at the Vincent-d’Indy School of Music in Montreal, where she was also in charge of the “Music for All” program. Starting in 2024, Yana will join the Centre Musical de Cornavin, where she will continue to inspire future generations of budding musicians with her passion and expertise.
